Awards for Students, Young Professionals and Women in Engineering Members
IEEE PES awards several travel awards, best paper awards, best presentation awards, best poster awards under different categories in ISGT-Asia 2021 under the following categories. All our awards will be assessed and awarded with due consideration to gender equity. IEEE Queensland Student Activities will coordinate these awards with the ISGT Asia 2021 organising committee.
1. Travel award
Four awards – each valued up to $500 – will be rewarded to registered students, women in engineering members, and young professionals physically attending the conference from outside of South East Queensland. Funds will be released only after attending the conference.
Process of submissions
Eligible authors must express their interests to apply for the travel award by sending an email to w.tushar@uq.edu.au by November 20, 2021.
Eligibility
Students
- Proof of Full-time candidature in a research higher degree or university enrolment.
- IEEE PES membership information.
- Statement on how this award will assist you in attending the ISGT ASIA 2021 in Brisbane.
Young professionals
- Proof that the industry employee is a graduate in the last 5 years and a full-time employee of an industry.
- IEEE PES membership information.
- Statement on how this award will assist you in attending the ISGT ASIA 2021 in Brisbane.
Women in Engineering
- IEEE Women in Engineering Membership information.
- Statement on how this award will assist you in attending the ISGT ASIA 2021 in Brisbane.
Selection process
The organising committee of IEEE PES ISGT Asia 2021 and IEEE Queensland Student Activities will jointly evaluate the applications and finalise the travel awards.
During the selection process, review report of the paper, Applicants circumstances and the provided statement. Any professional volunteering experience will be given some priority.
2. Best paper award
Ten best paper awards – each valued up to $500 – will be rewarded to registered participants who have accepted papers in the conference.
Eligibility
- You are a registered author of the conference.
- You have presented the paper in the conference.
Selection process
Based on the review report.
3. Best student paper award
Six best paper awards – each valued up to $400 – will be rewarded to registered students who have accepted papers in the conference.
Eligibility
- You have registered as a student in the conference.
- You are the first author of the paper.
- You have presented the paper in the conference.
Selection process
Based on the review report.
4. Best paper for women in power (WIP)
Five best paper awards – each valued up to $500 – will be rewarded to women in power (WIP) who have accepted papers in the conference.
Eligibility
- You have registered as an author in the conference.
- You are the first author of the paper.
- You are a female working for Academia or industry.
- You have presented your paper in the conference.
Selection process
Based on the review report.
5. Best presentation award
Five best presentation awards – each valued up to $200 – will be rewarded to the authors who will present their paper in the conference.
Eligibility
- You have registered as an author in the conference.
- You have presented your paper in the conference.
Selection process
Session chairs will act as the judges to decide the best presentations.
6. CIGRE NGN Best presentation award
CIGRE will offer a $500 gift card plus a complimentary 2023 individual membership for best presentation.
Eligibility
- You have registered as an author in the conference.
- You have presented your paper in the conference.
- Under the age of 35
Selection process
Session chairs will act as the judges to decide the best presentations.
