Awards

Awards for Students, Young Professionals and Women in Engineering Members

IEEE PES awards several travel awards, best paper awards, best presentation awards, best poster awards under different categories in ISGT-Asia 2021 under the following categories. All our awards will be assessed and awarded with due consideration to gender equity. IEEE Queensland Student Activities will coordinate these awards with the ISGT Asia 2021 organising committee.

(a) Travel award – Twenty travel awards – each valued up to $500 – will be presented to students, women in engineering members and young professionals physically attending the conference. The recipients can use this fund for travel and accommodation. Funds will be released only after attending the conference. The higher degree research student’s supervisor needs to provide a support letter for the remaining cost to be borne by the student’s host institution.

(b) Best Paper  – $200 will be awarded to the best paper in the conference. There will be TEN awards under this category.

(c) Best Presentation – $100 will be awarded to the best presentation. There will be FIVE awards under this category.

(d) Best Poster – $100 will be awarded to the best poster. There will be FIVE awards under this category.

 

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must hold a current IEEE PES membership in one of the following categories  – ungraduated student, graduate student, or a full member.

Full-time candidature in a research higher degree (Masters by research or PhD) or full-time undergraduate/Masters by course work  student at one of the universities, WIE members or a full-time employee of an industry who has completed his/her latest full-time degree in last 5 years and under the age of 35 years on the 1st of January 2021.

Candidates must be the first-named author of a paper or a poster (for the best poster award).

 

Process of submissions

Travel award

Eligible authors must include their interest to apply for the Travel award when submitting the paper or at a later date as early as possible. Travel award is not available to South East Queensland residents. In addition to the paper following documents must be attached:

Students

  • Proof of Full-time candidature in a research higher degree or university enrolment.
  • A supporting letter from the research higher degree student’s supervisor stating that the remaining cost to be borne by the student’s host institution/supervisor.
  • IEEE PES membership information.
  • Statement on how this award will assist you in attending the ISGT ASIA 2021 in Brisbane.

Young professionals

  • Proof that the industry employee is a graduate in the last 5 years and a full-time employee of an industry.
  • IEEE PES membership information.
  • Statement on how this award will assist you in attending the ISGT ASIA 2021 in Brisbane.

Women in Engineering

  • IEEE Women in Engineering Membership information
  • Statement on how this award will assist you in attending the ISGT ASIA 2021 in Brisbane

Other awards

All submissions from the eligible participants are considered for other awards.

 

Selection Process

Travel awards

The organising committee of IEEE PES ISGT Asia 2021 and IEEE Queensland Student Activities will jointly evaluate the applications and finalise the travel awards.

Selection criteria:

Review report of the paper, Applicants circumstances and the provided statement. Any professional volunteering experience will be given some priority.

Best Paper awards

Based on the review report.

Other awards

Session chairs will act as the judges to decide the best posters and presentations.
